Dr. Victor Lando, MCIarb, was appointed dean of the Riara School of law on 1st September 2022. Dr. Lando is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from the University of Nairobi, a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in Human Rights and Democratization from
the University of Pretoria, and a Doctor of Laws (LLD) degree, also earned from the University of Pretoria. He is also a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He has over eighteen years of experience in the legal sector with a specialty in human rights, regional integration within the EAC Treaty framework, humanitarian and refugee law as well as constitutional law, technology law and intellectual property law. Dr. Lando has served in several reputable organisations including the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR), the International Rescue Committee (IRC), and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees(UNHCR).
He has consulted for institutions such as the National Gender and Equality Commission of Kenya (NGEC), the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) the Kenyan Ministry of Justice, National Cohesion and Constitutional Affairs (MoJNCCA), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the International Rescue Committee (IRC), the Society for International Development (SID) and the CRADLE –the Children’s foundation.
He has also served as a human rights expert within the UNDP’s panel of experts and has written extensively on the subject of regional integration, human rights and good governance.
Dr.Lando is a member of the Law Society of Kenya, the East African Law Society, the International Commission of Jurists-Kenya (ICJ), the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators-Kenya Chapter and also serves as a founding partner at the firm of Lando Law Advocates LLP.
